Through art, music, dance, photographs, film, stories, living history and interactive activities, the Museum presents exciting and engaging exhibits, and educational programs that inform, entertain, and inspire. Exhibits and programs are being organized by business, historical, educational, cultural, community, and governmental organizations. Topics include women pilots, astronauts, seafarers, inventors, entrepreneurs, artists, writers, and athletes as well as women in the military and in the media.
While the women featured in the Women at Work Museum may not be listed in history books, this in no way diminishes their real role in history, their commitment to intellectual challenges, and their contributions to the communities in which they lived and worked. As leaders, regardless of recognition or reward, they pursued their interests and made significant advances in math, science, engineering, and technology. As an educational center, the Museum presents to visitors the full scope of the achievement of women today as well as in the past.
Since opening, Nancy Young, president of the Attleboro Jewelry Makers, has provided approximately 3,000 square feet of space for the Museum, which is located in downtown Attleboro and easily accessible to interstate highway.
The Museum has received support from around the country. Many organizations have made donations as well as sent volunteers and created exhibits.
